AN ARTIST

BUGG’s story - and his artistic practice - is the result of his three core interests working together as one:

At the age of 13, on the heels of playing drums and bass in bands, BUGG began translating his school notebook work sketches onto shoes and clothing. He soon found that people were willing to pay him for doing what he loved - the official beginning of his career as an artist.

A chance encounter at a skatepark brought him into the local music scene. Sharing his art, BUGG quickly established himself as a go-to source for album covers and soon was doing covers for over 100 artists nationwide.

A musician himself, BUGG recognized an opportunity to contribute musically and began learning the art of music production. With discipline and hard work, his music began connecting as strongly as his art and soon the music took center stage.

In the summer of 2020, while continuing to skate and produce music, Bugg brought his art back into the professional mix. In late 2021, the art leapt from clothes and covers to stretched canvas. Combining a recurring character from his old school notebooks with a tag he designed to connect him to the iconic trees of his upbringing, “Willow Faces” explore nostalgia and identity through the common thread in all of his creative work: iterating creatively within a consistent creative form. On a painting mission since December 2021, BUGG has filled over 200 canvases with his iconic “Willow Faces” with no end in sight.

MAY 20th SOLO SHOW

“willow faces”

“willow faces” was more than just an art opening.

With a goal of connection and collaboration BUGG set out to create an environment that would bridge the gap between creative worlds. An art show with an heavy emphasis on inclusion and experience. “Willow Faces” was held at 345 Art Gallery in East Garfield Park in May of 2022. BUGG’s first solo show. An event that would feature live painting and musical performance produced by BUGG himself. The show was a success, attracting photographers, musical artists / producers, fashion designers, and many more likeminded Chicago creatives. Selling nearly 40 artworks his first show it is undeniable that BUGG is beginning to solidify his place as an artist at the age of 19.

How could his work become accessible? Useful even. The answer was simple. Lighter cases. A PRODUCER

A PRODUCER

A chance encounter at a skatepark brought BUGG into the local music scene.

Meeting music producer 88KRAZY in august of 2018 was a pivotal moment. They exchanged social medias with no intent of making music. Watching 88 produce from afar through apps like Snapchat and Instagram sparked a creative interest in BUGG. This was the true beginning of his music career at the age of 14. Soon after this interaction, 88 took BUGG under his wing and showed him the basics of music production.

He was quickly infatuated by the music world which by this point consumed all of his attention. Spending hours each day teaching himself FL STUDIO, and the business behind the music industry, homework and school work no longer held any importance. On the tail end of 2019, BUGG withdrew from highschool his sophomore year to focus solely on music.

As of now BUGG has worked with over 100 artists nationwide, amounting hundreds of thousands of views on youtube as well as being featured on The Ellen Show. He’s collaborated with other Chicago natives such as LUCKI, Boss Top, Callboy, SBG Kemo, DCG, LGado, TaySav, FlyNari, HappyBirthdayCalvin, and many more. BUGG has produced well over 3,000 beats and continues to grow in his field. He recently moved from the city of Chicago to Atlanta with an undeniable ambition to succeed.
